Courses offered at HSI2024 are divided into four types: the Advance Research Course and the Global Liberal Arts Course, both designed primarily for students; and the HSI extension/professional program in English and the HSI extension/professional program in Japanese, both providing recurrent education intended primarily for adults. Each course is outlined below.

Advanced Research Course
This course offers cutting-edge classes in specific areas of expertise. As lecturers include many researchers from overseas universities and other institutions, their lectures include content that can only be studied at HSI. The lecturers also include researchers in Japan at the forefront of their fields.
Global Liberal Arts Course
This course offers classes in interdisciplinary fields and those with liberal arts elements. It requires no expertise and is open to students from a wide array of academic backgrounds, such as liberal arts and the sciences.
HSI extension / professional program in English
This program offers courses for working adults to engage in re-leaning as well as the acquisition and development of expertise. The classes will be conducted in English. Those who have successfully completed the program will be issued a digital badge. Students are also eligible to attend this program, and they can earn credits.
HSI extension / professional program in Japanese
This program offers courses for working adults to engage in re-leaning as well as the acquisition and development of expertise. The classes will be conducted in Japanese. Those who have successfully completed the program will be issued a digital badge. Please note that although students are also eligible to attend this program, they cannot earn credits for the course taught in Japanese.

Université Paris-Saclay aims to promote access for international students to its Master’s programmes, provided by its faculties, component-institutions and associated universities, and to make it easier for highly-qualified international students to join the University, especially for those wishing to develop an academic project through research up to the doctoral level.
Scholarships will be awarded for the 2024-2025 academic year. Established with the IDEX funding of the 3rd Programme Investissements d’Avenir, and based on academic achievements, these scholarships are aimed at students admitted to a Master’s programme delivered by Université Paris-Saclay and provided by one of the following insitutions: AgroParisTech, CentraleSupelec, Ecole Normale Supérieure Paris-Saclay (ENS Paris-Saclay), INSTN-CEA, Institut d’Optique Graduate School (IOGS), Université d’Evry-Val-d’Essonne (UEVE), Université Paris-Saclay (UPSaclay), Université de Versailles-Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (UVSQ).
These scholarships are awarded for 1 or 2 years to students enrolled in a Master’s programme at Université Paris-Saclay, depending on their admission level (M1 or M2), and subject to completion of the required number of credits to go through to the following year of study.

Pre-selection Process:
Admission to a Master’s programme does not automatically entitle students to a scholarship.

Students eligible for a Paris-Saclay University IDEX scholarship will be selected by the admission panel among those students admitted to a Paris-Saclay University Master’s programme.
Only students who receive an email from Paris-Saclay University inviting them to apply for a Paris-Saclay University IDEXscholarship will be able to submit an application.
No unsolicited application is possible.
Application Procedure:
1) Selected students will automatically be sent a link by email to an online application form. Upon reception of this email, students wishing to apply will need to complete the online application form and provide (mandatory) the names and contact details of two referees who would be willing to submit a reference for the candidate (director of studies, professor, internship coordinator…).
2) Each of the two referees named by the candidate will be sent a link by email to an online recommendation form. They will be asked to complete and submit the form prior to the closing day of the scholarship call. The candidate will automatically be informed when each referee has submitted the form.
3) The application file for a scholarship will be considered complete when both recommendation forms have been submitted by the referees. Please note: the candidate will not receive a message confirming that the application is complete. It is up to the candidate to ensure both referees complete and submit the form by the deadline given in the invitation email.
Applications that are incomplete or received after the deadline will automatically be rejected.
Eligibility criteria:
Are eligible: – Students admitted to a Paris-Saclay University Master’s programme delivered by one of the following institutions: AgroParisTech, CentraleSupelec, ENS Paris-Saclay, INSTN-CEA, IOGS, UEVE, UPSaclay, UVSQ. Among these students, only those who answer one of the following criteria are eligible to apply: – Newly arrived international students, aged 30 and less during the course of the selection year. – Students of foreign nationality living on the French soil for less than a year, previously or currently enrolled in a training course or internship that does not lead to certification. – Students of foreign nationality living on the French soil for less than a year, taking language classes (type FFL). – Students who have lived in France in the past, within the framework of a mobility programme during their studies (e.g. Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degrees, exchange programme…) that did not lead to certification.
Are ineligible: – All students who have been or who are enrolled in a French higher education institution during their studies, except international students enrolled in a French higher education institution abroad. – Students who have interrupted their studies for more than 3 consecutive years. – Students receiving any other type of funding whose amount exceeds 650€ per month.
Together with UNHCR (the UN Refugee Agency) and backed by MEnS association (Migrants dans l’Enseignement supérieur / Migrants in Higher Education), Paris-Saclay University is implementing a bonus system for refugee students or students with subsidiary protection within the framework of the IDEX scale of scholarships. If you are concerned by this status, please indicate it in your statement of purpose as soon as you submit your application to the master’s degree.

– All academic fields are eligible. – All Master’s programmes for which Université Paris-Saclay is accredited, except for vocational training, are eligible.
Selection of laureates, evaluation criteria:
Reminder: admission to a Master’s programme does not automatically entitle students to a scholarship.
The selection of laureates is the responsibility of a jury composed of experts from the faculties, component-institutions and associated universities of Paris-Saclay University. The evaluation criteria take into account the following elements: – Academic level, – Personal project, – Specifically for students admitted in an M2 programme: well-argued motivation to pursue a thesis in a laboratory of Paris-Saclay University.
Amount and payment of the scholarship:
The amount of the Université Paris-Saclay scholarship is 10,000€ per year. It is paid by Université Paris-Saclay for the duration of the academic year, and for a period of 10 consecutive months (September to June).
A maximum of 1,000€ for travel and visa expenses can also be awarded depending on the candidate’s country of origin.
Laureates will receive their scholarship as well as travel expenses only upon arrival in France and once they have enrolled in the programme to which they were admitted.
No advance payment can be made.
Course Attendance and academic mobility:
– Selected students must follow the programme for which their scholarship was awarded in one of the faculties, component-institutions and associated universities of Paris-Saclay University. – The scholarship can be suspended in case of repeated absence without due justification. – The scholarship will be suspended, without possibility for deferment, during the period of time the student attends courses in an institution outside Paris-Saclay University (in France or abroad). – Payment of the scholarship will be continued within the frame of compulsory mobility required by some Paris-Saclay University programmes, or international university exchange programmes between Paris-Saclay University and its partners (double degree with compulsory mobility, Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degrees…). This compulsory mobility cannot be carried out in the student’s country or institution of origin. – Payment of the scholarship will be suspended for any student mobility outside compulsory mobility. – Placement years are authorized but not funded.
Internship:
– Internships in research laboratories must be done in one of the Paris-Saclay University research laboratories. Outside this framework, the scholarship will be suspended throughout the period of internship with no possibility for deferment. – Internships in companies must be carried out in France. – The scholarship will be suspended if internship wages exceed 700€/month.
Results:
All applicants to the scholarship programme will be informed by email of the jury’s decision.
Upon receiving the confirmation email, students will have 8 days to accept or refuse the scholarship. If students fail to respond within this timeframe, they will be deemed as having refused the scholarship.
Paris-Saclay University reserves the right to refuse or cancel the scholarship awarded if the information provided by the candidate proves to be false.

Reflect and Brainstorm your Academic CV
Before starting to write your resume, you must make an assessment of yourself and determine the elements of your professional, academic and personal experience which you will place on paper.
Initially you should gather as much information as possible to have a broader view of what you have to offer, and then you should choose which ones to show and how to do it. Remember that the scholarship provider has the final word, so research about him and the profile he seeks . Based on this, select and highlight the most relevant skills and experiences in your Curriculum Vitae (CV).
You can start the research by reading the description of the scholarship and its requirements very well. You can also check the profiles of other fellows studying on that scholarship. Many times the scholarship providers publish articles or institutional videos in which other scholars share their experience and that is your opportunity to analyze their profile.

When you do your research identify key words and write them down in a list, so you know how to address your CV (resume). For example, you will know if you should focus more on the academic, professional or personal skills and experiences. It can also help you for example, to know if you should show more as a researcher, leader, creative or socially aware.
How to Organize Academic CV for Scholarship?
All CVs must have three parts: contact information, education and professional experience. However, I recommend that you add other sections that make it easier for the reader to identify relevant characteristics such as: Certificates and acknowledgments, Volunteering and other experiences, Software Skills and Languages.
Contact:
At the top of the page or in the header you must show your full name and your contact information such as address, phone and email. Avoid placing words such as “CV”, “Curriculum Vitae” or “Resume” which do not make it look professional.

Education:
Normally it goes first because it is what will allow you to show that you meet the basic entry requirements. For example, if you are applying to a PhD , you have already completed a Master’s degree; or if you apply to a master’s degree, you have already completed your undergraduate degree.
Write only the title obtained, the institution, the year of graduation, along with the city and country where you studied. Add special recognition or your qualifications, if they were outstanding.
Work Experience:
Do not limit yourself to describing the tasks that you carried out, but include your achievements and measurable results. With this you are demonstrating to the reader that you leave a trace where you work and that you are aware of the impact of your work. Also write it as the first person, but avoids the use of “I”. Remember that it is about what you have done and, therefore, you are the main character of what you present.
For example, instead of writing “sales and event organization” you better write “I increased sales by 20% over the same period last year and organized events with budgets of more than 500,000 USD.” Always clearly refer to true facts.
Languages:
Show the languages you speak with the respective level: native, basic, intermediate or advanced. Avoid getting entangled with numerical scales that make it difficult for the reader to understand.
Personal Skills:
As you mention your technical skills, also mention your personal skills. This section is vital so that the reader can quickly recognize that you have the profile that interests him. In addition, with this you can also demonstrate self-knowledge and balance.

Other Key Sections:
If you have written publications or have been awarded prizes or certificates that complement your formal academic training, you can organize them in a section to highlight your achievements. Similarly, if you have experience in extracurricular activities or volunteering , I recommend that you organize them in another section to quickly demonstrate your pro-activity and social awareness.
Do I have to include Professional Profile in Academic CV for Scholarship?
The professional profile is a section with which some people decide to start their CV in the form of presentation. However, it can become a repetition of what you will surely write in your motivation letter. For this reason and also because CV is about being as concise as possible, I would avoid to include it in the CV . But if you want to use it, do not write more than one paragraph or five lines of text.
Do I have to include my picture in Academic CV for Scholarship?
Regarding the photo, it depends a lot on the call, the institution and the country to which you are applying. But in general terms, I recommend you to place a professional photo in your CV which will help the reader to have an idea of who is speaking. The photo should be one in which you appear with a friendly and happy gesture. Avoid forced smiles and serious gestures.

How to write a winning CV for Scholarships?
An ill-planned academic CV may rope in scholarship denial. We have elucidated 8 ways of making your academic CV (resume) sound very effective and powerful.
Short and specific: Depending on the number of applications, the reader of your CV can spend only 30 seconds to read it. That is why you should try to place all the content in maximum 2 pages.
Simple format, but NOT flat. Use bullets, bold and capital letters to show relevant information to the reader. It is also recommended that you use more than one column and that you separate the sections clearly to facilitate reading. Check the spelling. Whether you write in English, your spelling says a lot about how you communicate and the level of language proficiency. Since self-correcting is not always successful, ask your friends and professors to review each word and phrase.
Don’t fall a prey to clichés: For example you should not write the sentences like, “If given a chance, I will prove my mettle” or “I am passionate about”. Rather portray something unique about yourself.
Do not display fancy emails on your Resume: Many of us these days have an email id by the time we were at the age of 12-13. Those days of life were really funny we tried emails with such peppy, funky ids. Many of us retain those funny sounding emails like showerofpetals@gmail.com, tigerforyou@hotmail.com etc. These sound utterly unprofessional. Create an email id that simply states your name. Use that in your resume.
Let your resume look consistent: Use a common font for all the points mentioned in your resume. Times New Roman size 12 looks decent. Go for this. You may have a slightly bigger font (Say Times New Roman 14) for the subtitles.

Programme Overview
The Master of Arts in International Law and Diplomacy (hybrid and online formats) is a graduate programme permitting students to specialize in the interface between international law and diplomacy. It will not only broaden students’ knowledge in the field of international law and its various foundational dimensions but will also equip them with the knowledge and skills to work in the field of diplomacy and related international careers.
During this programme – offered both in a Hybrid Format (asynchronous classes online and face-to-face on the UPEACE campus in Costa Rica), and an Online Format – students in this programme will analyze the different dimensions of development, including environmental, social, economic, and human dimensions, as well as the theory and practice of diplomacy in the 21st century. These include dispute settlement and conflict resolution.
In addition, students will attend skills development and coaching sessions designed to support their professional careers and employability.
Students will have an opportunity to participate in an optional field visit to Geneva (Switzerland) and/or The Hague (Netherlands), immersing themselves in the heart of diplomacy and international law.

Field Visits
Students admitted to the programme are offered a unique opportunity to partake in an optional field visit to Geneva, Switzerland, and/or The Hague, Netherlands, immersing themselves in the heart of diplomacy and international law.
The five-day field trip(s) cost USD 1,500 each and include exclusive experiences such as visiting various international organizations, the ICRC museum in Geneva, the ICJ in The Hague, and engaging in networking sessions with diplomats, personnel from permanent missions accredited to the UN, civil servants working in international organizations, and representatives from civil society.
Scheduled for the summer, the confirmed dates for these optional field visits will be shared with interested students by UPEACE and UNITAR well in advance. Students have the flexibility to enrol in either the Geneva or The Hague visit individually, or they can choose to participate in both field trips to maximize their learning experience.
(*) Please note that the fellowship programme does not include travel, accommodation, food, or visa expenses. Please note that students should have a valid health insurance plan in place during their stay in Switzerland and/or The Netherlands.
